Carrickmacross Sensory Garden

Brief

Brackley Landscapes was awarded the contract to create a new sensory garden in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. The design features bespoke corten-steel raised planters, natural rockery elements, and a sculptural water bowl that brings gentle movement and sound into the space. At the centre of the garden, raised bench seating offers a welcoming area for families and visitors to relax and connect with nature.

The planting scheme is carefully curated with sensory-focused species to provide a rich mix of scents, colours, textures, and natural sounds, creating an immersive experience for all ages and abilities. Beyond its visual appeal, the sensory garden provides meaningful benefits to the local community—offering a calming, inclusive space that supports wellbeing, encourages outdoor engagement, enhances biodiversity, and strengthens the town’s network of accessible public amenities. The garden provides a peaceful retreat, a learning resource, and a shared place for social interaction, contributing to the overall quality of life in Carrickmacross.
